Play Go Online Against the Computer - or Play Capture-Go

Not sure how to play Go? The rules are very simple. Follow this external link for a tutorial.

You can play Go online against the "GnuGo" computer-Go program here. Select your color, the desired computer level (1 = weaker, faster; 10 = stronger, slower) and the table-size.

If both players pass, click the "Estimate" button to get GnuGo's score estimation, to be displayed in the comments section below the board.

If you want to start another game (for whatever reason, including resigning), just click one of the table-size links.

In case of an "There was a problem retrieving the game data" error, refreshing the page in the browser will restart the game.

Table size: 9x9 | 13x13 | 19x19
6.5

You can go back thorough the game using the navigation arrows, but if you start editing the game then it gets out of "play" mode so you won't be able to play this current game against the computer - you need to start another one.

Capture-Go

For people who are very new to Go, an option is to play "Atari-Go" (Capture-Go) in the beginning to get used to basic tactics. You can play Atari-Go here.

The user interface is EidoGo - a very nice Javascript library written by Justin Kramer. I added the possibility to set color, handicap, and computer level.

The backend engine is the latest version (3.7.11) of GnuGo - the strongest open-source computer-go program, plus a customization added by Justin Kramer to enable marking territories when the estimate button is pushed.

In the spirit of the EidoGo open-source licence, here are links to the EidoGo source code files that I modified:
