Hane Naoki defeated challenger Yamashiro Hiroshi and kept his Okan title.
Okan title consists of only one game and is open only to the professional Japanese players from the Nagoya branch of Nihon Ki-in.

Hane Naoki won this year’s Agon Cup after defeating Cho U in the final.
Cho U has very recently lost his Meijin title, so he seems to not be in top shape anymore.
Hane Naoki played white and won the game by resignation.

Hane captured this title from the same Takao last year, in a dramatic finale: Takao was leading the titile match 3:0 when Hane won the 4 remaining games.

Hane Naoki, title-holder, leads 3:2 so far in this match, and only needs one more win to keep his title for one more year.

Hane Naoki won the first game in this year’s Honinbo title match by 2.5 points against the challenger Takao Shinji.
Interestingly, last year’s Honinbo title match was played by these same players, but with roles reversed. Last year Takao Shinji was the title holder and won the first 3 games. Hane Naoki put up an extraordinary next and won all of the following four games.
