Hane Wins Honinbo
Hane Naoki went all the way in his recovery from 0-3 by winning all 4 remaining games, capturing the Honinbo title from Takao Shinji!

Here is the game record. There was a lot of fighting and sharp moves on both sides.

During this series, I read somewhere that statistically Hane was expected to win: When a challenger comes back from an 0 - 3 deficit, they’re much more likely to win the 7th and final game.

Right, I read that myself in a Go World a while ago.
Now, of course, there weren’t so many cases of recoveries from 0-3, so “statistically” those numbers aren’t that rigorously relevant, but very interesting nevertheless.

I’m amazed by Hane comeback. Good for him

I read that white 100 was losing move. Instead of this Hane Naoki should connect right side with group on upper left side and attack black on bigger scale
