I’ve seen it too. The actor that plays Go Seigen really looks like him! I wonder if Kitani Minoru will have a guest appearance

Great news! Thanks for sharing.
Do you have more info about the film? I didn;t find anything on Imdb.com.

It has an entry on Imdb, at: http://imdb.com/title/tt0439885/
(it’s listed by the Chinese name, Wu Qingyuan, which is also Go Seigen’s Chinese name).
I don’t have more info - I read a bad review about this movie in the AGA yearbook (the theme of which was “almost nothing about Go in this movie”), but judging by the IMDB rating it must be a great movie.

The movie is great!!! True, there may not be enough Go in it to satisfy the average Go player. But you must admit, that its awfully hard to make this great game look interesting to the average movie goer. I think the filmmaker does a great job leaving just enough mystique about the game to pique anyone’s interest. And there’s something about Go in almost every scene of the movie — either a goban at the back of the room, or the mention of other famous players or matches, and various short scenes (a little too short at times) placing stones on the board during a match.
The film is beautifully shot! Gorgeous scenery and sets! And well acted!
The story seems to jump around a bit and was a little hard to follow the first time through (I couldn’t figure out how to activate the subtitles - and I couldn’t understand enough Japanese to follow the dialog). Even with the English subtitles, it helps to be a little familiar with Go Seigen’s life, career and the history of the period. I sure wished his published autobiography was translated into English already so I would be able to really catchup on these details.
I plan on reading up on as much history I can find on his life, so I can help explain it to my family and friends when I get them to watch it with me.
Did I mention that I liked this movie? I’m going to go watch it again right now!

I envy you, xed_over - so you got the DVD?
I renewed my Netflix subscription just to get this movie, but then realized it’s not available yet… so I have to watch other movies from them in the meantime (or just unsubscribe again until it becomes available).
