Second was Catalin Taranu, who only lost to Fan Hui. Then there is a large group of players with 4 points (including professionals Guo Juan and Alexander Dinerstein, and former insei Ondrej Silt and Cristian Pop).
The tournament page doesn’t have yet game records from the last rounds - I am especially looking forward to the game between Fan Hui and Catalin Taranu, which decided the first 2 places.
For those who don’t know yet: Fan Hui is the official trainer of the French Go Federation, and he also has a mailing list which you can subscribe to for free that delivers weekly Go problems to your email box. Check out this page.

It’s a shame that there are so little recorded games.
Fan Hui is just back from a 2 months trip in China where he spent most of his time studying go. A (biased?) French guy reported that Fan was clearly stronger than all of the players there during the tournament.

Hi Arnaud,
Fan Hui spending a couple of months to study Go in China is very interesting info - thank you!
I am sure French Go is benefiting a lot from his teaching (and European Go in general, of course).
Do you happen to know if he is 2p or 3p in China, officially? I’ve read both versions (from different internet sources) and I’m confused.

He is officially 2p as far as I know. During summer 2005 he went to China and played the oteai, he won 4 games out of 8 but did not get promoted to 3p. He commented some of these games in the French go magazine, but I don’t know if this a good source (it said twice than Bao Yun is 3p). At least he says in his KGS profile that he is 2p, he would have changed it long ago if it was wrong.
