1-1 in Women’s Meijin
Kato Keiko lost the second game in this year’s Women’s Meijin title, so it’s 1-1.
She is my favorite, because she was also
insei at Igo Kenshu Center when I was insei.
I wrote
a page about this match – just with some interesting moves from the first game, but I also have something in mind about the second game to add soon.
Problem from the first game: Black to play in the diagram:

On a different note: thanks to the anonymous user who left feedback asking “so what was the rule of thumb in the Kobayashi fuseki article?”. Good question – I
updated the article to clarify.

I would play at C.
F, G: too close to black strength
A,B,D,E: I’d love to play there, but they will look even better if you have a stone at C already.
Hi Niklas,
You are right about F and G.
Even if in the game Kato took a much more aggressive approach towards using here thickness (she played A), C is a very big, well-balanced move.
